WILDLIFE HABITAT (CERTIFIED) #103,669

In June 2007, I posted my first musings about what to do with our lawn. Now, a little over a year later, the answer presented itself in the form of a National Wildlife Federation Certified Wildlife Habitat No. 103,669.

We've had a compost/mulch soil base for nine months. What amazed me the most is that it did not shift or spill over onto the sidewalk in the rainy season. It just lay there like a big sponge.

There are many options to consider as you move away from thirsty turf. I am not about to say that the approach taken on our property is the only way to go.
